Wireless Network Security ( Cs6526 / Fall 2014 ) - 969 Words

WIRELESS NETWORK SECURITY (CS6526/FALL 2014) ASSIGNMENT # 2 NAME: VIDYA PANGA NET ID: KS9877 1. What are the security requirements and challenges of MANETs? Answer: MANETs (Mobile ad-hoc network) is defined as autonomous collection of wireless mobile nodes that are self-configure to construct a network that can communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. In MANETs the security depends on the several parameters are as follows: Authentication: It enables the mobile nodes to ensure the identity of the nodes they are communicating with. With this it provides the secure communication among the nodes. It also helps in identifying the false identity of nodes. This avoids the unauthorized nodes to gain access of the other nodes. Confidentiality: It prevents the access to the data for unauthorized users or nodes when two authorized nodes are communicating .Since MANETs use the open medium, all users present within the transmission range will have access to the data. The data can be kept confidentially by performing encryption on it. Integrity: It prevents the data from being modified or unchanged by the unauthorized users while transmitting the data. It never discloses the data to the unauthorized users. With this it provides the users a secure communication without any modifications in the data. Non repudiation: It ensures that nodes in the MANETs should not deny their responsibility of actions while sending and receiving the data packets. With the help of

Why We Sleep- The Pending Mystery - 731 Words

In recent years, a lot of progress has been made into the field of sleep research. However, these discoveries are still far from being complete. Considering that an individual spends about one-third of their life sleeping, there is much more that still needs to be discovered concerning this topic. General Information Sleep is basically a state of physical inactivity and mental rest in which conscious awareness, thoughts, and voluntary movements do not occur. During sleep, irregular and unpredictable dreaming also takes place. Sleep is a very active and coordinated process in which the brain busily turns off or moderates wakeful functions while actively turning on sleep mechanisms. There are two stages that sleep is usually divided into. The first stage is the non-rapid eye movement, or NREM stage. The second stage is the rapid eye movement, or REM stage. NREM is the stage of sleep that occurs when one first starts their sleep cycle and it is said to make up 75% of the sleep cycle. One of the distinguishing features of NREM sleep is its lack of dreaming. During the last two stages of the four stage NREM sleep, the deepest and most restorative sleep occurs, followed by various important biological processes. Meanwhile, the REM stage of sleep first occurs approximately 90 minutes after falling slee p and increases over the later part of the night, while occupying only 25% of the sleep cycle. The REM sleep is the stage of sleep that is characterized mainly by the appearance ofShow MoreRelatedThomas Hardy Poems2405 Words   |  10 Pagesin, that a Powerfuller than I Had willed and meted me the tears I shed. Boys Will Be Boys Free Essays

September 8th, 2015. It was the first day of high school, and my hands trembled as I rushed up the stairs to my biology class. As I settled in, the teacher collected the summer homework, only to realize that two nameless assignments had been handed to her. We will write a custom essay sample on Boys Will Be Boys or any similar topic only for you Order Now She walked around the room again, questioning only the girls if the homeworks belonged to them. It was after one of the students claimed her homework that I suddenly realized; I had also probably forgotten to write my name. â€Å"Excuse me, miss. I think that last homework without a name may be mine.† She walked over to my desk–row four, seat five– asking for my verification. â€Å"Yes, this is mine. I’m so sorry.† For a few seconds, the teacher observed me skeptically, unable to believe that the gentleman in front of her could have such neat, curly handwriting. Thinking back, I’ve always found myself to be quite different from others. Unlike most boys I knew, I enjoyed drawing Disney characters and going to Operas. I even joined my school band and learned to play the piano, flute, and clarinet. I never considered my interests as masculine or feminine, they simply made up who I was. Yet, when I shared my hobbies and interests, my friends would always be shocked to learn that I enjoyed many of the things they considered â€Å"feminine.† Growing up, I’ve always played with toys of medical equipment, hoping that one day I would actually use them as a nurse or pediatrician. Upon telling my friends, they would laugh and say â€Å"You†¦ a nurse or pediatrician? But you’re a man, and that’s such a lady’s job. You should be a surgeon or something.† This stumped me. Maybe they’re right, I supposed. I was led to believe that men and women should each commit to doing what they are respectively fit to do. The ridicule of my femininity followed me into high school, forcing me to confront my comfort zone and adapt to a new environment. Thus, as I came home from school, I browsed through the internet, searching for â€Å"how to write like a man†, and attempting to emulate standard â€Å"male† writing. Writing in this messy manner was difficult; it certainly wasn’t something I felt accustomed to. Incidentally, as my mother walked in and witnessed the unusual scribbles on my homework, she was bemused to what she had seen. â€Å"Oh gosh, Zhen! Whose homework is that?† â€Å"Mom, calm down. It’s mine. I’m just trying to write like other guys.† â€Å"Jeez no! Why are you doing this? You don’t have to be like everyone else. You are your own person.† Though I struggled to understand her, I learned that my mother was right. My handwriting, despite it being viewed as ladylike, made me no less of a man. I decided that my handwriting would no longer be a tool of embarrassment, and I made it my goal to embrace my qualities and use them to exceed others’ expectations. My feminine traits contribute to my strength and individuality. Even with these traits, I am capable of performing the so called â€Å"masculine† tasks. Whether it be building a desk from raw wood, or repairing mechanical appliances, I am capable, even if I also enjoy shopping, dancing, and keeping up with fashion. In being able to accomplish both the delicate and crude tasks, I am at an advantage. My feminine traits are neither problematic nor burdensome- instead, they reward me with a vast range of interests and skills that turned into my passions and a more diverse group of friends. I have learned to grow out of stereotypes dictated by society and be comfortable with my own character. To date, though my views of myself have changed for the better, my handwriting and passion to pursue my medical studies have stayed the same. How to cite Boys Will Be Boys, Papers

Christian Worldview on Management free essay sample

Often times it takes some strategic evaluation to know how to adjust and respond to the drastically changing society. Let’s discuss some of the changes that’ll affect human resources management over the next decade. There are many trends that have changed and will continue to change how the labor force is managed. Attracting older workers and universal health care are just a two trends that I’ll discuss. There are several men and women in today’s society that are working and performing efficiently at jobs known by the society as the opposite sex career. For example, men are taking on women jobs such as nursing, teaching, and cosmetology, and women are accepting men jobs such as manufacturing and mechanics. Women now are becoming more educated than men and are securing jobs that men usually would exemplify stronger leadership. Men recently have to work harder to prove its sovereignty over jobs that were primarily for the male gender and vice versa for the women applying to a male job. We will write a custom essay sample on Christian Worldview on Management or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over the next 17 years, the number of workers in the United States age 55 and above will increase by about 80% to over 33 million. The workforce is aging and has been for the past 10 years. Many companies will have to start thinking about what older workers are seeking and how to accommodate their needs while at work and away from work. The marketing strategy used for older workers has to be specific such as experienced, age diverse, and/or over 21. This eliminates anyone outside of these boundaries from applying and possibly eliminating some discrimination discrepancies in the workplace. Its 2013, and health care costs are constantly increasing. Employers and employees are paying more money for minimal or the same coverage they previously were offered. This has increased the number of individuals in the country who do not have insurance. Most people agree that our health care system will undergo a major change in the next 10 years. Jeffrey Pfeffer, professor of organizational behavior in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, predicts that we will adopt some form of universal health care system in the future. In fact, he points out, the U. S. is the only industrialized country where health care availability is employment based. He says, â€Å"In other countries, access to health care is a fundamental human right. EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) and OSHA (Occupation Safety Health Administration) are two governing agencies that monitor and regulate human resource operations. According to eeoc. gov, The U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the persons race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. OSHA was created to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. These two directly affect my choice to discuss the trends of aging workers and universal health care. Human resource managers have to be careful not to violate any rules set by these organizations to prevent lawsuits and/or government fines. â€Å"You can get capital and erect buildings, but it takes people to build a business,† is a very true statement made by Thomas Watson. It’s important in any organization to not only have the resources to build a large company but it’s the employees that make or break the organization. You have to seek out the best individuals that will support the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. Paying someone a high salary, providing company assets, and convenient work hours doesn’t create the best person for the job. You must consider individual VABEs and make sure that they’re similar or parallel to that of the organization and its culture. Scripture tells us to â€Å"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16, King James Version) We must exemplify a good image to society showing that we can adapt to its changes in an ethical and profitable way. God wants to get the glory out of all our being and we must acknowledge him at all times. References Baumol, W. J. , Litan, R. E. , Schramm, C. J. (2007).
